Gotta Have Goals – Calling all crafters!
I thought I’d take a minute and just write some thoughts down. You know… dump out my brain a bit.
One of the goals when I started this blog was to have a way to connect with other creative people who love to craft, and to share my projects and hopefully some tutorials. These are still some of my major goals. I want to share my art and teach others something they want to know. I’ve been a teacher for over 10 years. Its sort of ingrained at this point.
Doing art is something that I’ve thought about a lot since I was in college. I found a notebook yesterday from just after college, and its filled with all these art ideas I had. Some of them were actually really awesome. And I’m not sure now why I decided to put that book away and not open it for 10 years. I wonder now if any of those ideas might still be good.
I want Nessie Craft to become a business that will allow me, should my husband and I ever be fortunate enough to have children, to stay at home with my kids. I love being a school librarian – I do. Its just that because of the way schools are set up these days, I don’t often get to be a librarian. And I love art. its has been so, SO encouraging that I have managed to sell the junk journals I’ve made since the beginning of the year. So to those of you who have loved my work enough to buy it, or who have liked or commented on my photos, THANK YOU. You will never know how much that has helped me think that maybe – just maybe – I might be able to give this a real chance.
When I started this blog, I thought I had to ONLY post about art. Techniques or pictures or whatever. But I’ve come to the conclusion this week that while my posts will be related to my art, I won’t limit it to only info. That, while useful, gets boring in its own right. If I want to really connect with readers and crafters, then it makes sense for you to see a little more about my personality. Besides, Its my blog and i can do what I want to! lol. So there will be lots of things on here. Hopefully that won’t put any of you off, but I think it will be fun. And if it isn’t fun, why do it, right?
One of the things I’m going to start doing is to a Friday Feature, where I highlight and interview another crafter/artist. I love reading about and finding a new crafter/artist to follow, and I hope that others will as well. If there is an artist/crafter you want to know more about, or that you think would be great (or if you are interested!) please send me an email and I’ll see what I can do!
